Potential sponsors might find it challenging or hesitant to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Program. This could be due to not receiving an invitation or desiring to bring their parent(s) or grandparent(s) to Canada sooner. However, there’s an alternative solution available. The IRCC offers the Super Visa program, enabling parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to enjoy extended visits to Canada.

Typically, visitors to Canada are granted a six-month stay upon initial entry. Those wishing to extend their stay must apply for an extension and pay an additional fee. However, with the parent and grandparent super visa, eligible individuals can visit family in Canada for upto two years without the need for status renewal.

The Super Visa is a multi-entry visa valid for upto 10 years, providing multiple entries. The significant distinction lies in its allowance for individuals to stay in Canada for upto two years at a time, unlike a 10-year multiple entry visa, where each entry permits a status period of only six months.
