The Canadian Government launched the Express Entry Immigration system under the Economic Class, which includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
Through Express Entry, Federal Skilled Workers in 347 eligible occupations who meet the minimum entry criteria submit an expression of interest profile to the Express Entry Pool. These profiles are then ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System. The top-ranked candidates are considered for an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Those who receive an invitation must submit a complete application within 90 days.
Federal Skilled Workers are individuals with suitable education, work experience, age and language proficiency in one of Canada’s official languages. They are selected under the Express Entry Immigration system to apply for permanent residence.
To be eligible for admission to the Express Entry Pool as a Federal Skilled Worker, applicants must satisfy the following conditions:
Essential Conditions
- Have accumulated at least one year of continuous full-time paid employment, or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment, within the past decade, in one of the 347 eligible occupations outlined in the relevant National Occupational Classification system.
- The work experience must fall within Skill Type as defined by the National Occupational Classification system.
- Attain an adequate score based on the skilled worker point grid, which includes six selection factors. The current passing threshold is set at 67 points.
- Undergo language assessment conducted by a recognized third party and exhibit intermediate-level proficiency in English or French, aligning with the Canadian Language Benchmark of 7.
- Have adequate settlement funds available.
- Undergo a successful security background and medical examination.
