Super Visa: For Parents & Grandparents

Potential sponsors may find themselves unable or hesitant to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Program, either because they haven’t received an invitation or they’re eager to bring their parent(s) or grandparent(s) to Canada sooner. However, there’s an alternative avenue available. The IRCC offers the Super Visa program, granting extended visits to Canada for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Typically, visitors to Canada are allowed a six-month stay upon initial entry. Those wishing to prolong their stay must apply for an extension, incurring additional fees. Conversely, the parent and grandparent super visa permits eligible individuals to visit family in Canada for up to two years without the need for status renewal.

The Super Visa differs significantly as it’s a multi-entry visa valid for up to 10 years. Notably, it enables individuals to stay in Canada for up to two years per visit, unlike a 10-year multiple entry visa, which limits each stay to six months.
