Caregiver Pathways

Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots were introduced on June 18, 2019.

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot have replaced the Caring for Children and Caring for People with High Medical Needs pilots. These new programs offer eligible caregivers a pathway to permanent residence upon accumulating two years of Canadian work experience.

 

Caregivers with work experience in NOC 4411 (excluding foster parents) will qualify for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.

 

Those with work experience in NOC 4412 (excluding housekeepers) will be eligible for permanent residence through the Home Support Worker Pilot.

 

Both the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot will exclusively grant work permits to caregivers who possess a job offer in Canada and meet the following criteria:

Each program will accept a maximum of 2,750 primary applicants annually, resulting in a combined total of 5,500 primary applicants per year.
